Pilates is ...
Pilates is a holistic training system that aims to strengthen the muscles, improve flexibility and promote balance. The method was developed by Joseph Hubertus Pilates at the beginning of the 20th century and combines elements of yoga, dance and gymnastics. Pilates places particular emphasis on strengthening the deep abdominal, back and pelvic floor muscles, also known as the powerhouse. Through controlled and precise movements and conscious breathing, the entire body is trained and body awareness is sharpened.

The main aim of Pilates is to build a strong and stable muscular corset in order to move the body economically and effectively. This is achieved through six basic principles:

3. Control:
Every movement is controlled and consciously executed.

5. Precision:
Emphasis is placed on the quality of the movements, not the quantity.
6. Flowofmovement:
All exercises are performed in flowing, harmonious movements.
